In fact, the vast majority of people who participate in programs at Judaism in the Foothills are not Orthodox. 2. MYTH:
Judaism in the Foothills's goal is to make me Orthodox.

FACT:
Judaism in the Foothills is not out to make one Orthodox or anything else for that matter. Judaism in the Foothills is an outreach and educational organization dedicated to helping every Jew, regardless of background, affiliation, or personal level of observance, to increase their level of Jewish knowledge, enthusiasm, commitment and pride. Judaism in the Foothills invites you to explore the complex areas of Jewish religion, tradition, and practice in an open-minded and non-judgmental atmosphere.

All of Judaism in the Foothills's classes, programs, and services are designed to heighten the awareness and lend valuable insight into Jewish heritage, traditions, religious practice, laws and rituals. Each individual is invited to participate, study, and learn. Each person makes their own respective religious, lifestyle decisions at their own pace, according to their own sensibilities.

3. MYTH:
Judaism in the Foothills does not consider Reform, Conservative, or non-practicing Jews as "real" Jews.

FACT:
Judaism in the Foothills avoids labeling other Jews, since it tends to divide and create barriers between us.

4. MYTH:
Judaism in the Foothills does not accept converts.

FACT:
Although Judaism in the Foothills does not get involved with actual conversions it does follow traditional Jewish Law which states that any non-Jew who feels sincerely convinced of the beauty and relevance of Torah, who is prepared to follow the traditions of Israel, and therefore, wishes to join the community of Israel, is welcomed as a convert. Judaism in the Foothills is delighted to help any non-Jew wanting to learn about Judaism and the conversion process.

5. MYTH:
Judaism in the Foothills is financed by another larger umbrella organization based in New York.

FACT:
Funding for Judaism in the Foothills is solicited locally in the Metro Denver area. No money is sent to any other organization - all funds donated remain right here in our community.
